Familiar or novel, if space around me
Lacks comfort and temps of moderate control,
Or the smells and the tastes yukkify- oh fooey
My head hurts, both innards and eyes roll.
For some, it is traveling afar that doth bring
With tickets and airfare and other expenses
Excitement and wonder- extraordinary things
One will see on far sides of their fences
For others, the theatre, and parties and such
Color the cheeks and bring spring to the gait
Couture, coiffures, furs soft to the touch
For a coveted Coach, they can hardly wait
For this gal, nothing could be finer
than a Bible, a pen and my recliner.
Ode to My other space
With fondness, I grace my other space
Occasionally in the morning or eve
With towel covering my cleansed face
And ne’r a wrap, cap or sleeve
All the finest scents - flowers and herbs
from fine Walgreen’s for ninety- nine cents
All deep pains and aches this do curb
beyond far lands or hot sands or hot gents
On CD or tape- inspiring verses and such
The Word, a sweet, sweet taste to my ear
The gospel in music or word- never too much
Of comfort and joy with a pinch of God’s fear
It takes not a masseuse nor a rub
For me, a warm bath in the tub
An extra couplet for really bad measure
For the Bible says somewhere, once you hit fifty
It really says this , I’m quite sure, “home is nifty!”

Not least because I totally identify (not the 50 bit, but the recliner and tub), but also because you said it all so magnificently! Fun, fun, fun!
