“What in the world…” I just barely recognized it- the whisper of the thought flitting across the landscape of my mind.
Then I trapped and brought that accursed impression to the throne as I felt the Holy Spirit nudge and remind me to take every thought captive.
Not some, a few, the unholy, or even seemingly innocuous niggling’s, but EVERY thought, the apostle Paul instructed.*
Scripture wisely advises that the little foxes, or in this case the little thoughts spoil the vine ** as they pass through my consciousness. I recognize again every notion I began to entertain could and probably would grow to gigantic tree proportions, with potentially massive root systems, if left unchecked and not brought before and surrendered to Jesus Christ as a POW.
The path is described as narrow, but nowhere do I remember seeing it written how twisty turvy the topography in my head could become in an instant.
The battle in my mind rages on.
If not for God’s grace in giving me the ability to think about what I am thinking about, I would be just another Alice following the rabbit trail into Wonderland, consequently Troubleland and directly into the enemy’s camp.
When I choose to focus on the circumstances rather than Christ, all I will see is an extremely warped path.
Clarity comes as I look to Christ and His righteousness.
Forgetting what lies behind.*** Fixing my eyes above on Him and all the promises revealed in His precious Word.
So once again, downshift, slow down, brake, reverse and refocus.
Breathe, be in this moment.
In everything with prayer and supplication let my requests be made known to God- “Do not forget, you troublesome varmint intellect”- with thanksgiving, then the peace of God, which surpasses understanding will guard-“Praise God,” my heart and unruly mind.****
“Anarchy,” is simply not an option. I speak into the empty room with a smile on my face and cock of my hip.
