“It’s here, it’s here! David, you have to see this!” Eliza squealed with excitement. She came running breathlessly into the living room where her husband was sitting on the couch. “I can’t believe it! I’m so excited!” She could hardly contain her enthusiasm.
“What is going on, sweetheart?” David asked. “What do you have there in your hand?”
“It’s my book! It’s the first copy of my first book!” Eliza’s hands were tearing open the package from the publishing company. “I can’t wait to see it.”
“Me neither,” David said. He was just as excited as she was. He knew all the trials she had gone through.
Eliza finally got the package opened, pulled out the book, and stared at the cover. “Isn’t it beautiful?” she gushed. For a moment all she could do was smile as she lovingly gazed at her precious prized possession.
“It looks great!” David said. “I am really proud of you, honey, for all the hard work you put into that book. You really deserve this moment.”
Eliza looked up at him and smiled. “It took me two years to get to this point. I remember the day God told me to write this book. It really is all thanks to Him. He deserves all the praise for this. I could not have done it on my own. I can’t believe it is finally finished!” She let out another little squeal of delight.
“God gets the credit, but so do you. You listened to Him and obeyed when He told you to write. Remember what He said? You write the book and…”
“…and I will get the publisher!” Eliza finished joyfully. “I never thought it would happen. There were so many times when I just wanted to give up, but God really did hold up His end of the bargain. He opened doors and we have trotted through together. Now, we are finally here. All that work was so worth it.” Eliza stared down at her book and tears welled up in her eyes.
David got up and put his arms around his wife. “You really do deserve this. No one else could have written the things God spoke to you. You are amazing, and I’m so honored to be your husband.” David brushed a kiss on Eliza’s cheek.
“Did I ever thank you for being so helpful in this journey?” Eliza asked, staring into David’s blue eyes. “I couldn’t have done it without all your love and support. I love you so much.”
“Anything for you, and I will gladly do it again next time,” David said as he winked at her. “I know you have more talent in that big heart of yours.”
Eliza smiled again. “For now, I just want to revel in this one. God is so good. Thank You, Lord, and thank you, David.” They held each other for a moment and then sat down to go through the book together. It was then end of one chapter and the beginning of a new one.
