I remember as a young girl I would attend church and Sunday School with my aunt. I loved learning the songs and looking up the bible verses in our studies. Later in my early twenties I read a bible that my aunt had given me and soon gave my life to the Lord. I started attending church, went to bible studies and joined the church choir.
The next thing I did after getting saved was enroll in a bible college. Besides all my studies of the Word of God , I worked as a Residents Assistant, and eventually Assistant Dorm Counselor in the freshman dorm. Each evening I would spend time praying for every single girl in the dorm. I also prayed with the girls and listened to their many problems.
One of my greatest joys was singing and playing my guitar in the college group called the Troubadours. I was able to sing a solo and give my testimony during some of our weekend tours. I felt blessed to be able to minister after each service to those who needed prayer or wanted to give their lives to Christ.
During summer break and after graduation I did an internship at an inner city church is Seattle, WA. Besides working a regular job, I had the privilege of leading worship, twice on Sunday and again Wednesday nights. Friday nights were reserved for Street Ministry, where many were saved and they soon made up the majority of our church members.
It was at this church where I met and married my husband. Shortly after we were married, we started a couples bible study in our home. We helped each other grow in our walk with the Lord and in our relationships. We are all still married and still friends to this day even though we now live many miles apart.
I could go on to mention other bible studies I lead, the times I prayed every day for my whole head-start class, and all the people I have prayed with at all the different jobs I've had through the years. But, the vision is clear to me now. I have had a full time ministry, sharing Jesus to many people I have met and worked with along the way. Though not the life I would have chose for myself, the Lord gave me the life He wanted me to have and the ministry He chose.
The best part is, I believe the Lord has a lot more ministry in mind for me in my senior years. I am looking forward to the next assignment.
