Oh boy, I get the Mother's Day angst. You drew a clear word picture -except this sentence which either needs to be omitted or amplified because it leaves a big question for the reader: "It’s taken us a year, we’ve finally gotten used to this schedule, but now it’s hard to keep track of our U.S. holidays."
This is a really poignant piece about your problems with Mother's Day. I lost mine a few moons ago, and it sucker-punched my soul, leaving a gaping hole that thankfully Jesus has filled in with His glorious sweetness. So forgive me for being maudlin...but I am happy you are still there for your kids. Your work was well-written and positively provocative having an inside scoop on a mom who is struggling and searching...and it made me feel not so sad about my own situation. Thanks. And well done!
