seek refuge in a break or a nap
to recover or refresh
but I have a God
who never takes a snooze
He watches over me
day and night
In confidence I go to bed
knowing that He will encamp
me with His angels-
they protect me from unseen
daggers or unforeseen dangers
My night ends in thanksgiving
and gratitude
for He has kept me well
during the day
and promised to wake me up
the next morning
Look, He who looks after Israel
neither sleeps
nor slumbers
Will He not guard
over me with the same zeal
He is the Lord of Justice
He treats all His children fairly
The Lord is my Good Shepherd
I fear no night demons
which terrorises
innocent souls
though I feel weak and weary
I know He constantly stands
beside me and keeps me safe
Yes, I rest assured
that when I rest at night
He will neither leave
nor forsake
me for He has already promised
“ Lo, I am always with you!”
Lord, You’re the God who closes my eyes
in sleep, and my eyelids in slumber
May You lie me down
and wake me up in peace
Let no disturbing dreams
,no troubling thoughts
nor frightening fantasies
take me captive, Amen
