We all count on our cell phones to help with emergencies, comfort us when we are sad, communicate our accomplishments, and keep them close to us always. If you look around, people are always texting or talking on their phones all day long. Could using this time to pray, be a better alternative?
Because God is sovereign and is there for us all the time; His battery-life is never-ending. While we charge up our lifeless phones, He can instantly start working on our problems. "The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth." (Psalm 145:18, NIV) The miraculous power of God through prayer can rescue a toddler lost in the woods, or send healing to a loved one during an operation. God creates his own speedy energy path that surpasses simple radio waves.
Cell phone damage can abruptly erase communication. How many of us drop our phones, spill coffee on them, leave them on roofs of cars or "strollers," or simply lose them? These delicate digital devises are not as secure as we think they are, and have their limitations. We may drop or lose our Bibles, but God won't cut off our signal; He offers prompt forgiveness and love. "You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you." (Psalm 86:5)
Finding yourself stuck in a "dead zone" can be frustrating and scary. Mountains, trees, tunnels, even your interior walls, can create an unavailable network that prevents us from using our phones, causing dropped calls. Of course, in a natural disaster where everyone is trying to use their phones simultaneously, technology often fails. Hopefully we don't encounter dead zones during an emergency, however, it is good to know that God has no dead zones, but only direct links to Heaven!
We can purchase a cell phone at a variety of stores across the country, but God's connection is amazing, and is the best pre-paid plan available! Jesus has already paid for your plan by his death on the cross and has offered everlasting benefits. "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
