Thank you for the gift of writing.
I realize, anything I might say,
you’ve already said better in your Word,
but it helps me to understand things,
when I see them written down.
Like the Israelites, following a pillar
of fire through the wilderness at night,
I thank you, Lord, for the gift of your
Holy Spirit, tongues of fire, that light my way.
Lord, I know, as the heavens are higher
than the earth, your ways and thoughts,
are higher than mine. I also know,
true wisdom comes from you, and you
promised to give it to those who ask.
Lord, I have something on my heart.
I saw a photo, a church group posted
on the internet, asking for prayers for
Isaiah, a seven month-old baby, who has
puffed, black, circles around his eyes.
A note said, he is suffering from
stage four, neuroblastoma cancer.
I did some research, and the people who
know about such things say, malignant
cells have formed in the nerve tissue
of the baby’s adrenal gland,neck,
chest, or spinal cord, and he has bone pain.
Is the reason the baby has cancer,
because we detonated nuclear bombs,
and the air we breathe is polluted? Is it
because factories dump chemical wastes
into rivers, and our water supply is
contaminated? Is it because
we grow our food with poisons?
Maybe Lord, it’s because Satan inflicted
Isaiah with cancer, as he inflicted Job
with painful sores, from the soles
of his feet, to the top of his head.
I know you didn’t cause the baby
to have cancer, Lord, but did you
allow it, so his parents would realize
just how helpless they are, and
understand their need for you? Or
is it so people will pray, their prayers
will be answered, and you will be glorified?
Only you know, Lord.
Forgive me for saying, but
whatever the reason, I doubt that,
Isaiah and his family, view their troubles
as, “light and momentary.”
Jesus said, in this world we would
have trouble. He told the truth, always.
Though I can’t add even a single hour
to my life, let alone Isaiah’s, all things
are possible for you, Lord (apart from
lying). If it be your will, I pray Isaiah
will be healed, and grow up to enjoy
the beauty of life, and to praise
and glorify you.
There are so many other things I wonder
about. Right now, the mirror is fogged.
I see poorly, and know in part. Thank you,
Lord, for your promise, the day is coming
when I will see clearly, and know fully.
