The warm peace of freshly plowed earth,
Choking dryness from swirling dust.
Teary laughter from a freshly cut onion,
Pungent, healthy smell of garlic.
Clean scent of rain on a warm night,
Fearful smell of biting cold snow.
The odor of a hard laboring man,
Sweetly the smell of a woman ready for a date.
Strong odor of a changed diaper,
Relieved by the pure scent of the baby.
Bruised tomato vines strong scent,
Salivating the promise of delicious tomatoes.
Tart sensing from a sliced apple,
The intensity of an orange peel.
Passing the billows of a defending skunk,
Cuddly, the friendly smell of a pup.
Yard grass cut in the spring,
The promise of newly cut hay.
Burning wood at a campfire,
Hot smell of a pot bellied stove.
Sizzling bacon waking the senses,
Fish frying on the stove.
The lingering scent
Of that one I love.
