My muscles ache
My heart searches
For a cool lake.
A place to rest,
Time to heal
To learn I’m not alone
Others know how I feel.
Oh, not all of us the same
There’s a varying degree
Some just feel a mild ouch
Others need to scream like me.
At times like this
There’s one place to turn
My Bible holds all Truths
That is a lesson I‘ve learned.
But at times like now
I need a little more,
A hearty laugh,
Might ease my searing sores.
Give me a chance to rest.
Is a Thriller the balm I need?
Take me on a wild ride
I will follow your lead.
Sometimes when my body fails
My mind will hop on a broom,
Together with Harry Potter,
I’ll zoom around my sick room.
As I lie here in pain
Trying hard to mend
I know I’ll need a bit of help
From a real or an imaginary friend.
Quickly I’ll make a list,
The library has many a book to lend
To one like me who has a need to read
Something new or even an old friend.
I’m so grateful to Mr. Franklin,
What a novel thought:
Share with those who have none
Or are stuck in bed by an illness I caught.
My list is all ready
Thirty books should last me a week.
When I’m done with those,
There will be more to seek.
That’s what’s so cool
About the building on Main Street;
They will loan me as many books as I need,
Until once again I'm back on my feet.
