Wreaths of flowers in her hair
Romance blossoms on the breeze
Singing birds bedeck the trees
Love strolls down the bridal aisle
Wearing diamonds and a smile
Trailing stardust from her eyes
Causing oohs and ahs and sighs
Sunshine brightens up July
Fireworks splash on evening sky
Parks are spread with picnic fare
Rockets sputter, anthems flare
Ice cream, ribs and hot dogs, too
Fun excursions to the zoo
Water parks are packed with fun
Fireflies flit when day is done
August bares her suntanned arms
Picking produce on the farms
Playing ball upon the beaches
Savoring juice from sunny peaches
Junior joins the soccer team
From the bleachers, hear them scream
Father runs a marathon
Mother yells and cheers him on
Back to school the children go
Though their pace is extra slow.
Mothers watch them go with tears
Kisses, hugs, and teddy bears
Summer’s short and Autumn’s fleet
Leaves now crackle ‘neath our feet
Say goodbye to summer, dear
It will come again next year
