But you weren’t there.
I was told you had to work long hours.
Daddy, I wish you could have stayed with us at my wedding,
But you had to leave early.
I was told you had somewhere else to go.
Daddy, I wish you could have known your granddaughter,
But you never came to visit.
I was told you had other people you wanted to spend time with.
Daddy, I wish you could have told me you loved me,
But you just couldn’t say the words.
I was told you never learned how to love.
Daddy, I wish I could I have you in my life now,
But I don’t know where you are.
I was told you had to move far away from home.
Daddy—most of all—I wish you could meet my Father,
But you can’t be found.
I was told you don't know Jesus.
Daddy, it doesn’t really matter that you couldn’t spend time with me when I was a child.
Daddy, it doesn’t really matter that you didn’t stay at my wedding.
Daddy, it doesn’t it really matter that you don’t know your granddaughter.
Daddy, it doesn’t really matter that you never told me you loved me.
Daddy, it doesn’t really matter that you aren’t in my life now.
But daddy, it does matter that you've never met my Father.
It does matter that you don't know Jesus.
He was there when you were young.
He was there at your wedding.
He knows your children and your grandchildren.
He wants to tell you He loves you.
He wants you in His life.
But, daddy where are you?
We are waiting for you to come home.
