Topic: Reading (01/25/07)
‘Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord,...’

I let my mind wander back to another time I heard those words. It was such a long time ago and so much had taken place since those days. I wondered what would have happened if my life had not taken this path? But I didn’t like to think about that for too long. I knew that the ‘other life’ would never have happened. God had me in his hands and I’d always been there for as long as I could remember. I had strayed off the path now and then but always came back.

‘Come, let us bow down in worship, let us...’

The pastor continued the reading and for a moment I was brought back to the present. But as he continued my mind wandered back again, over the events of the past 18 years, to a time when I knew God had given me another chance, to a time when he had healed me from an illness that could have taken me away from this life. When, if it had not been for the grace of God, I might not have seen my girls grow up into the beautiful young women that they are today. The thought that I might not have been here for Chrissy who so needed a close bond with her mother brought a lump to my throat and I thanked God silently for giving me life and allowing me the gift of watching my girls become the people they now are.

‘...for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care’.

‘Thank God I am one of those people’ I thought as I turned my concentration to the teaching for today.

I hope you will write "the rest of the story" some day--this is lovely, and makes me want more.

The topic is slightly weak here, but definitely present. Thanks for giving us a glimpse into your inner musings.

I enjoyed the 'musings' more than the "reading"; but in this Writer's mind, it was the "reading" (Topic, by the way) that brought them to their musings. I liked the brevity of this entry, and it makes sense. Now I must go on to other "readings"...but glad I stopped by. Nice job.

I liked this. I agree with the others. It seemed a bit weak on topic, but it was there. I would also like to hear the rest of the story. This would be an excellent piece if it were expanded, I think.
