If only Roger knew his purpose here on earth he would not have taken his life. In the many years that I had known Roger he had been suffering with mental health issues. He had told me several times that his parents didn’t love him. He felt like he was just a burden to his family. He conveyed that he felted like he was a complete failure. Yet really all of this was just in his head.
Weather he realize it or not he was loved by his parents. Roger’s parents loved him dearly. Yet he caused them heart ache where at times they were just lost as what to do for him. GREIF has place them down on their knees many a times praying with the pastor on how they could help Roger get better. Yet he was so depressed that he could not see that they loved him tremendously. Not only was he loved by his parents but most of all the Heavenly Father loved him dearly. Christ had gone to the cross for him that he would have everlasting life with Him in Heaven.
When Roger wasn’t in crises, he was praised for his knowledge in electricity. He knew how to wire houses and buildings. When he was in the Navy he was wiring the large ships. He was happy when he was working with electricity. He was quick to tell people that he would do the work they needed when they will be talking about a problem they were having. He could see his self worth.
If only he would have turned and looked to Christ when he was going through bouts of depression; he would have been here today. He would not have taken his life in the still of the night. If only he would have picked up a phone and called a friend maybe he would have been able to focus on that tomorrow which would have been a better day.
If only he had realized that his purpose wasn’t to please man here on earth. What man thought about him or wanted him to do. He was to praise God. If he just understood that God was to be his only reason for living on earth. No matter what man thought he would have been content with living to his highest potential. His will here on earth was to please God depended on himself only.
Keeping his eyes on God, he would have found his reasoning for being here. Life would have been a little easier and his rewards would have mounted up to where he would have wanted to be a live and not wanting to take his life. Taking our eyes off Christ, we have a tendency to look at things around us to where we only find discontentment.
Isaiah 40:28, 31 (ESV) “Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary, his understanding is unsearchable. but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
When we put our eyes on Christ, we will be content with doing his work to our fullest potential. God would have worked out the crises in Roger’s life to where Christ would have been glorified. Yet still in his death, God had a purpose for letting him die as he did.
God’s purposefulness in Roger’s death was to bring his family closer together; putting their trust wholly in God. They were able to see in his tragic death, God’s unconditional love and understanding. They were able to have peace in the mist of the storm. As was said at his funeral, that now Roger is no longer suffering. He wasn’t being plagued with having abnormal thoughts that would make him do things he really didn’t want to do. For once he is able to have clear thinking where now he is praising God for loving him a sinner.

Be careful of spelling, I saw weather/whether, greif/grief, and crises/crisis...
I was happy to read that Roger's family has pulled together after this tragedy.
