God helped my lungs which were full of fluid so they could bring in the oxygen which was so badly needed. My lungs were full because the cancer made my body unable to flush out the excessive phlegm brought on by allergies and a cold I caught. I was having trouble breathing because I was fighting the cancer as well as the fluid.
I did not know what was wrong at first; all I knew was that I was having difficulty sleeping at night. It was necessary to have most of the fluid drained off two times before I started the chemotherapy and pills. I was not able to start the chemo right away because of Covid-19. Once the restrictions were lifted a bit, the treatments began.
I was very tired after the first three or four treatments. After that, the tiredness was not as bad as a rule. There were times, however, when the tiredness was exceptionally severe. I would go to bed and sleep for two or three hours after coming home, and then still sleep six or seven hours that night. Later, I began to notice I was not sleeping as much as during the first few months of treatments.
I began to lean on the Lord more as the months went by. I felt God’s grace in my life so strongly at times and I knew I did not deserve it. It was then I discovered God’s mighty strength in the midst of my weakness. He was there in the blackness of night and in the loneliness of the infusion facility. He was there when I was cold and when I was hot. When I wanted to give up, He said, “Just hang in there a little longer. My strength is always more than you need when you trust me.”
There were a few times when I was aware of God’s glory even in the middle of the night. Paul said the power of Christ rested on him, and I felt that power as well (2 Cor. 12:9, KJV).
God’s strength is there when you are the weakest. He will help you when you need Him most. He is a wondrous God and He can do anything, even quiet a frightened soul in turmoil over scary circumstances. Praise Him!
This is non-fiction and it happened to me. The Bible reference is 2 Cor. 12:9, 10, KJV
