Carry ‘em everywhere with me
One’s hooked on my heart
Other’s on a chain around my neck
‘Cause I’m not ready yet
To give just anyone the access
You got to get past me
And the only other one who holds the key
It’s one thing to care about you
But quite another to take my cues
From somebody I don’t trust yet
To shape my actions and have no regrets
It’s not being picky, childish or unfair
Matter of fact, au contraire
Realizing only Jesus is perfect
He’s the one I’m gonna trust to protect
I got a lock and key
Carry ‘em everywhere with me
Got a big sign on my door
“No junk mail please anymore”
‘Cause I’m tired of admitting everyone
I show grace but a line must be drawn
Between love and letting sin rub off on me
When God is working to make me holy
He is the one I turn to
He is the one I look to
For direction when I need it
If you don’t want to be it
Don’t feed it
Don’t feed it
All you have to do is follow Jesus

This is really the "doing" on our part-- trusting and obeying God's instructions carefully.
Blessings!
I had a bit of trouble with the rhythm/line length, because since some of it rhymed, I was expecting more uniform lines, length wise. On the other hand, it read as a song, so it worked. :D
Thanks for the reminder to guard your heart in this way.
