Two weeks later, everything was totally upside down. My senior dad was safely in heaven with the Lord. The brand new grand-twins had arrived much too early and were in the NICU, surviving on tubes, wires, and machines. And our Sandwich Generation family continued to keep juggling grief and concern as we cared for the older children, arranged meals for the exhausted parents and comforted my sweet senior mom. Time spent in encouraging Bible verses and prayer was still difficult to come by yet much too precious to skip.
So much had changed in just a matter of weeks, but one thing remained. God's intimate and loving presence never varied. He was always there, continually comforting and encouraging us. As difficult as that time in our life was, I would never trade it away. God truly is our strong tower and those weeks cemented that fact in our hearts.
