Ramon glared at Kurt before he spoke. “You have no room to talk. I know by the look of your outfit Crystal had to pick it out. Dark blue sports jacket with a red silk ascot. Who are you trying to impress.”
Kurt and Ramon burst into laughter and hugged each other oblivious to others around them.
Kurt adjusted himself to find a more comfortable position before he spoke. “Well, Ramon are we going to continue our study on the life of Christ?”
Ramon sat with a pensive look upon his face. “Hum, Kurt I was reading in Proverbs this morning and this one verse just kind of reached out and grabbed me. I know you’ve had that happen to you so let’s discuss Proverbs 23:7 and expound on that, if that‘s okay with you. The first part of that verse is profound. The King James Bible says, ‘For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.’ I would love to hear your thoughts on that.”
Kurt place his hand on his chin, pursed his lips and spoke. “Ramon that brings to mind a book written by James Allen. The title is, ‘As a Man Thinketh.’ What comes from the heart defines the person. If he selfish than by his words and actions he will be known. If he’s mean-spirited he’ll wish ill will upon others. What’s in the heart comes out of the mouth.”
Ramon nodded his head in agreement. “Well, my friend shall we go the Holy Word and see what Jesus has to say about that? I love when Jesus is speaking to the Pharisees in Matthew 12:34. ‘O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.’ That my friend says it all. Whether King James or NIV the Bible is a wealth of information and one is wise if he heeds what lay inside.”
Kurt looked at Ramon with a twinkle in his eye. “Ramon my friend we are so much alike. When we are reading our Bible in the early hours before the sun rises certain verses reach out grabbing us and we must meditate upon them and then discuss them together.”
Ramon looked at Kurt with a impish grin. “Kurt are you implying we are alike. Your hair was blond, your eyes are blue and I have an olive complexion with dark brown eyes. Alike, nah, I don’t think so unless you mean same mind set. Yah! I’ll give you that.” Ramon threw back his head and laughed riotously.”
Kurt couldn’t control himself and laughed along with Ramon. After regaining his composure he said. “Ramon reread ‘As a Man Thinketh.’ That little book holds a wealth of information on thinking. To me that book is priceless. If your heart is black with sin than your character is just as black. Ramon turn to Ephesians 4:17 with me and please read what it says.”
Ramon cleared his throat before reading from Kurt’s Bible. “So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts.”
Kurt interrupted Ramon and said. “Yes, now that’s what I’m talking about. God gave each a mind to choose and He lives in our hearts only if we invite him in. In verse 20 it says, ‘You, however, did not come to know Christ that way. Surely you heard of him and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus.’ Ramon this truly is a wonderful discussion.”
Ramon smiled at Kurt and nodded his head in agreement. “Well Kurt, I don’t know where the time goes, but it is getting late my friend. Shall we bow our heads and pray before we part. Have a good evening, will see you tomorrow my friend.”
