We learn about its bloodstained history
But the journey truly only has one place to begin
In the Garden of Eden and humanity’s sin
From the glory of heaven Christ left his throne
On this Earth he found his home
His life and death had long been foretold
Redemption before man behold
In the Garden of Gethsemane he silently prayed
And in his pleading silence he was betrayed
For the sum of thirty pieces of gold
To the Pharisee of the Jewish Synagogue he was sold
By one claiming to be his very own
Betrayed by the man Judas alone
In his silence and in his regret
The reason Christ came he did forget
Christ came to seek and save the lost
Knowing his life was meant of pay sin’s cost
Judas betrayed the Son of Man
Then was betrayed by his very hand
Into hell his soul has wandered
Because of a life so selfishly squandered
A life wasted by pettiness and greed
Never realizing that Christ was all he’d truly ever need
The Roman Soldiers stripped his body bare
But his heart still clung to his unheard prayer
He was whipped upon his own bleeding and bruised skin
But still the Son of Man understood His blood was the price for man’s sin
He clung to hope and he clung to faith
Even in his hopelessness and despair was his disgrace
He was tortured and he was mocked
And alone to the cross of Calvary he walked
In his pain he uttered not a single word
Because the voice could not be heard
As the nails pierced his hands and feet
Man’s redemption was almost complete
The soldiers gaze towards the Heaven above
Not realizing that He was crucified in perfect love
The skies darkened, the ground stood its course
But the soldiers were brought to the knees with such force
In the silence of the storming skies
They heard their Savior softly reply
“Forgive them they know not what they do.”
Please let me be a perfect example of you
On knees the Roman solider found
The grace of God truly abounds
In his death and his life
We realize the cost of the Savior’s sacrifice
It was there meant for all to see
The blood of Christ shed at Calvary

Doublecheck the spelling in your title--and I'm not sure this fits well with this week's topic.
Your church may want to use this as a bulletin insert this season, perhaps.
