But then to my utmost surprise, this becomes a reality on a much larger scale. No, I didn’t have my investments overly multiplied and I didn’t stumble over a check on the street corner in the middle of the night. I felt like I had won a lottery but in hindsight, it seems like it was a perfectly worked out plan. About 15 years ago, I got picked out of the lot and given a blank check from someone who was worth more than money. He said I could write down any amount and I would get it but before I could think of an amount, He offered me something much more.
He offered me Himself, desiring a relationship with me which He was eager to seal with a ring. A ring to show everyone that I belonged to Him. I looked down at the check and thought of everything I could get but I looked into His eyes and I could see His desire for me. I could feel His heart, He loved me. When I looked into His hands, I knew He had been to the debt collectors. The imprints of everything I owed which I couldn’t pay were right there in His hands.
I couldn’t say no, I knew I needed Him. I took His hands and I became His own. With my eyes closed, I could feel His breath and I knew He was giving me something special. I began to speak to Him in a language I didn’t know but it came from my heart. It was like a love language people in a relationship could speak.
On that day, I went back home and down on my bed staring at the ceiling. I couldn’t believe my new reality, but I was certain I will never ever recover from it. I had not won a million dollars, I had received everything I ever needed. A million dollars may give me a comfortable life on earth, but I had been with someone who had given me everything I needed now and beyond. My life has and will never be the same again because of this special day. It was an unforgettable experience, and like a flower planted for its beauty, I began to bloom from that day.
The chances of this happening to anyone including me wasn’t one in a million. A ball with my name on it didn’t just fall out randomly from a bowl full of tiny blue balls. It was carefully planned, and I was diligently pursued. Many years have gone by, but I still feel like a won a lottery because I get more of Him and everything that comes with Him every day. I know He will always be there in the days ahead because when I look back, I find that He never left.
