God challenges us; he says to "Prove him," another version says, " Test Me and see." Here's what I do when I get paid, please remember to give back to God. My family, we all tithe 10% of the gross amount received before taxes, and we keep 90%. The tithe check is the very first check written. Remember, God, says to test Him. Please look up this passage of scripture first for yourself, Malachi 3;10.
I'm convinced that most of us have been in a situation at one time or another that might be a characterization of a tight financial spot.
One thing that I have to continue to remind myself is that my God is able, and He has always met my needs, especially since my whole family and I started tithing in 1982. Presently I'm reminded of JOB 42:2, " I know that you can do all things And that no purpose of Yours can be thwarted." In other words, relax, God is on the job; I do not doubt the fact that nothing is impossible with God.
Now I'm of the mind that when we invest what God has put into our grasp towards his work, he provides us with resources as well as opportunities to give in his service. Never forget when you give be joyful as God loves a cheerful giver. I read somewhere that it's the condition of our mind when we give, which is more valuable than the amount we give.
If you're not tithing, please do some research for yourself in the bible, look up Malachi 3:10, and Luke 18:12. Now there are more scripture verses, but I don't want to do your homework for you.
I love how God our Father answers when we pray. I believe in asking the Lord for understanding when I open up the Word of God ( The Bible). I am always seeking scriptural clarity so that I can share it with others when asked for my understanding.
I love how Jesus, one day with his disciples, visited the Temple Treasury; I believe that he and his Inner Circle gathered around the altar for what I call an object lesson.
Jesus is God, as well as fully man, took his seat close to one of the collection boxes but not close enough to embarrass the giver but close enough to view. I don't know how long they stayed, but it was long enough for him to make a poignant point in giving. Mainly he observed how the people were giving, and I believe that Christ was checking out their hearts. Now, folks of all economic demographics, rich and poor alike, but one poor widow touched his heart; she gave all that she had, which was two small copper coins. Jesus' heart melted as in his opinion; she gave more than all others who donated that day. Mark 14:7," For you always have the poor with you. " I'm confident that other humbler portions of her society gave a share as well as those fo a higher echelon gave much more making a spectacle of their giving. Now a gift begrudged or to receive recognition loses its value with the Father. Any gift offered to our Father with the right motives is pleasing and well received.
Now when I re-heard, the expression " All's Well That Ends Well, my mind went to something natural in my life. Tithing is an involuntary reaction for my adult children and me. I believe that everything starts with him, and I am just a steward of all that he puts into my hands. Trust me on this one, " We can't out-give God." Oh I just remembered another verse " And my God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus " (Philippians 4:19)
