You see, I walked away from my career in finance because I thought that I needed a change. Right out of the box, this particular day was turning out to be a stellar day for me. I had already sold one policy to this homeowner as I was about to take my leave; we heard a loud rumbling. As it got closer to our position, I identified it as the roar of a giant Harley Davidson motorcycle, which then pulled up in the garage; it was her adult son on his brand new tool who walked through the door. He asked who I was, and I immediately went into my sales pitch. I thanked him for asking me that question, and I attempted to go to work, but he quickly shut me down. He went into a rant about not caring about what happens to him after he dies. I told him that life insurance should be considered survivors benefits. He then looked at his mother and cruelly said that when his time comes that she could bury him under the tree in the back yard for all he cares.
Would you believe that he lost his is life within eleven days after the purchase of said policy by his mom? An accident happened; he lost control and crashed his motorcycle into a tree just off a highway. The office notified me of the death and said that we would honor the policy that his praying mother purchased for her unmanageable son. As I look back today, forty-two years have blown passed, and I think what a blessing as I was nascent in the insurance field, and I was genuinely impressed with my new company. This act of kindness certainly inspired me to achieve a record-setting week. I realize that most won't believe it, but I ended up selling 55 polices that week. When a person is genuinely motivated and hungry to be the best, anything can happen. I received a pretty good size paycheck, won a plaque as well as accolades amongst my colleagues. I remember thinking so far, so good.
My heart should have hurt no broke for this woman at the thought of her losing her last son. I am now ashamed to say that I incorporated this accounting, the death of this young man into my sales pitch for as long as I sold Life Insurance.
I am so grateful to be loved by such a powerful and loving and forgiving God. My heart sincerely breaks to think of anyone going to hell, which also accounts for my Christian boldness. Nowadays, my winsome personality assists me when I'm sharing the Word Of God.
