In this area, there were not many mobile home parks. But God provided a place for me not far from where I was. Then trying to find someone who could move it was a real challenge. Eventually, a guy named Mike said he would do it. I had to be my own contractor getting all the permits and the people that could move the A/C, propane, etc.
This was in January. Mike tried to move the first half of the house and got stuck. He finally got it out, but then his truck broke. Half my house was in a parking lot near the main road and the other half on the road in the park for 3 weeks. Finally got it together after more delays. When I thought everything was ready to move in and turned on the water all the pipes burst. Mike forgot to winterize the house. These were just a few of the problems.
I was sleeping in my son's basement for over 2 months, on an air mattress. I had to pump it up every other night. My daughter-in-law was pregnant and not happy, she wanted her basement back. To say this was stressful is an understatement.
At one point I cried out to God, “Lord, I can’t trust the weather, I can’t trust the mover, I can’t even trust me, I have to trust you!” Of course, He worked many miracles and I eventually settle in.
For the last number of years, my entertainment business was slowing down. I had another business as a notary signing agent taking refinance docs to be signed. But in 2008 the financial crisis caused that business to dry up. I was having a hard time paying the park rent and the mortgage. I was about to lose the house. The park owner let me put it up for sale. Praise God, He provided a buyer. I had to downsize. Gave away my furniture, some books, and stuff, moved what I had left to storage.
I have not had a home of my own for over 3 years. At first, I rented a room with a lady from my church. It turned out that she was not that easy to live with. After a year with her, I was in a friends basement for a few months. Then in a motel for a month till another friend found me a room to rent. It was also not an ideal situation. I was praying for another place to live.
This may sound strange but I believe that God allowed me to trip and fall and break my arm. It happened coming out of a house after a prayer meeting. They sent me to U of Md Shock Trauma in Baltimore. I had six hours of surgery and after a week I had no pain. I say, “ God has a sense of humor, He broke my humerus.” Psalm 51, says “ God heals the bones he has broken.” I could not live on my own so my daughter, Jennifer and her friend took their truck went to my room and retrieved my things. I moved in with Jennifer, it has had its challenges but grateful I am not on the street.
When I go to my storage unit I have to put a code in the elevator.
I love the message I get so I can proceed, ”Entry is granted.”
At 77 years old I am still hoping to get a place of my own while I am here on this earth. I also know I am in this world but not of this world, because I belong to Jesus. He is preparing an everlasting home with Him for eternity. When I hear Jesus say,“Entry is granted.”
Then I will have finally graduated to my real home and not have to move ever again.
