Earlier in the evening, Miranda's brother Thomas had introduced his fiancée Angela to her. It had been a joyful occasion until Miranda had learned of Angela's background. The moment Angela had left Miranda had got into a dispute with her brother.
"Are you sure about this girl?"
"Of course I am. What's your problem? I thought you liked her."
"Well, she seems like a nice girl but do you really want her family for in-laws?"
"What is your point?"
"Her father is a well known fetish priest."
"Must you always look for faults? She is not her father."
"I am not looking for faults. I am concerned. Her family still follows all those rituals. As your in-laws they will be a big part of your lives. She can't deny her own family."
"So what do you want me to do?"
"Pray! Hear from God.... "
"I have prayed and I am sure. I don't know what more you want!"
That conversation had left a sour taste in Miranda's mouth. She was certain that she had every right to voice her concerns. What she couldn't understand was why she was struggling to sleep. Of all the girls that he could have met, why Angela? Miranda didn't want Angela or her family for in-laws.
As she lay in her bed, she felt a strong unction to pray. Pray for brother and for Angela. Pray for God's will to be revealed. Pray for salvation for Angela's family. She got out of the bed and knelt besides it. Her heart torn at the physical fight she had put up instead of pouring her heart out to God. Only God knew the future.
What if there was a purpose for Thomas meeting Angela?
"Dear God, you know that I am afraid of Angela's family becoming our in-laws. I don't know if she is the right person for Thomas. Forgive me for not bringing this matter to you first. Help me not to fight in the flesh. Lead both Angela and Thomas in the way that pleases you. Please bring salvation to Angela's family. I leave everything in your control. In Jesus name I pray, Amen."
