As I page through the local weekly ads, I am curious if the prices advertised are the best deals. My search continues through the myriad of sales flyers. Where can I buy Christmas gifts for the lowest price and yet good quality products? I love my family, but I have a limited budget. I want to give them something nice at a price I can afford.
Shopping has never been an enjoyable venture for me. I have resorted to ordering online for most of the gifts to avoid the long lines and possibly not finding what I need to buy. Then there are the returns and exchanges because a sweater doesn’t fit right, or the blender that won’t work. It seems Christmas isn’t over until I have completed my mission to please family and friends.
“Bah Humbug!” I say. What is Christmas when the focus becomes the gifts? We spend more time contemplating which color or size the recipient would like. In the end, they may never wear it anyway!
I instruct my husband every year to not buy me clothes. I love him but his taste in women’s clothing is quite different than mine, which means I rarely wear what he gives me. I try! I can’t do it no matter how much I want to show him that I’m thankful for his gifts.
In the middle of the shopping experience, I pause to remember the most precious gift God gave us. We will not find it online or in a store. We can avoid the long lines. God’s gift of his Son does not require us to shop. No money needed. You can’t beat the price! The quality is top-notch.
The best deal is not found in any weekly ad flyer. Better yet, it is a gift that keeps giving, year after year, from generation to generation. We can rejoice in knowing it is the greatest gift we will ever receive. No need to hide it in the back of my closet hoping my husband will not notice I haven’t worn it this year. I wear it with pride!
