During the time I worked, I quickly discovered, one of the most time -consuming tasks was removing the security tags. Not every security tag was the same, and not every item had a security tag on it. I quickly learned the criteria for the varying types of security tags. Most items purchased at a low price weren’t accompanied by security tags, however, moderately priced items would most definitely have one of the simpler security tags attached to it. However, as we all know, discounted stores often have designer labels at a lower price. The value of these items was so highly esteemed, they could often be found in the designer section on a different rack.
Now these items, whether they were clothes, shoes, or handbags, all came with one to two security tags on them. It wasn’t uncommon to have to remove the normal run of the mill security tag, and then must remove an additional tag known as a screamer. If placed within a certain number of feet of the security device at the door, a shrill scream would emanate from the item causing all shoppers and employees alike to stop and stare. If we can go to these steps to ensure materialistic items, which can very easily become too small, too large, or worn are appreciated and aren’t tampered with, how much more should we appreciate ourselves?
It’s no secret that I formerly struggled with a poor self-image and often succumbed to the effects of a low self-esteem, but it was only because I didn’t know my worth. I didn’t know I was a designer label and came with the ultimate security tag. I didn’t know I shouldn’t have been placing myself on the regular clearance racks instead of resting elegantly in the designer section. I just didn’t know. Oh, but I know now. Not only am I designer, I am tailor made, one of a kind, an original. No, I’m not being conceited, no I’m not being cocky, I can prove it to you.
Psalm 139:13-16 states,
Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother’s womb. I thank you, High God- you’re breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvelously made! I worship in adoration- what a creation! You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something. Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you. The days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day.
You see, God has intricately woven me together to be the me I am. He took His time and DESIGNED me as He saw fit. We are each designer products. God took His time and put each of us together specifically the way He envisioned it. Why then do we allow anyone and everyone to handle us? Why don’t we go and sit as the special creations we are? Why don’t we place value on ourselves? Why don’t we allow God to be our security tags and keep us? Many designer labels don’t really advertise too much. They rest in knowing that upon seeing the creation, or item, the quality of the product will speak for itself. They don’t feel the need to talk about what their label stands for, or how great the clothing item will feel on you, they simply trust that the time and effort put into creating it will show forth it’s beauty.
Just remember, we weren’t placed on an assembly line and mass produced; each one of us was painstakingly woven together one at a time way before we were even thought of. Don’t continue to live a life of, “I’m not good enough, I’m not pretty enough, I’m not fine enough, I’m not model sized.” Yes, we can all do what’s necessary to be healthy, but ultimately, we are gorgeous simply because our Designer created us in that way.
