As an example, the demands of our day require us to simmer down and get rest before going on into the following day. Without that rest (release) we are weaker, less focused and prone to making mistakes.
True, deep, satisfying release comes when we rest in the Lord. We toil in our jobs, in our callings and in our positions in this life. We must continually stop and release it all to Him and He will renew and refresh us.
What about the things we desire most? Where did our desires come from? From our heritage, from our vocation, or from ourselves? Are we able to release our desires to the Lord? I challenge you, as I challenge myself, to let our desires be His. How can that happen?
“Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4 NKJV
He gives us the desires of our heart, IF we delight in Him. I believe that goes both ways: He puts the desires into our hearts and then He fulfills them. Desires that come from God never conflict with His Word. They are always intended to glorify God and to bless people.
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Romans 12:2 NKJV
My prayer: “Lord, help us release any conflicting desires to You so that You can fill us with Your desires. Let us be transformed by the renewing of our minds so that our desires are Your desires. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
