Does anyone see a problem with the “feast of classes” An inconsistency?
Yoga: as explained on Britannica.com: (Sanskrit: “Discipline of Force”) stresses mastery of the body as a way of attaining a state of spiritual perfection in which the mind is withdrawn from external objects.
Bible: There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Romans 8:1 KJV
Yoga places great importance on the adoption of bodily postures called asanas, which structure a program of physical exertion. The “salute to the sun” is a well-known sequence of 12 asanas performed in a fluid movement.
Bible: Then He brought me into the inner court of the LORD'S house. And behold, at the entrance to the temple of the LORD, between the porch and the altar, were about twenty-five men with their backs to the temple of the LORD and their faces toward the east; and they were prostrating themselves eastward toward the sun. Ezekiah 8:16 NIV
For You have forsaken Your people, the house of Jacob, because they are filled with eastern ways… Isaiah 2:6 KJV
Yoga has grown in popularity in the West as a form of exercise that develops strength, flexibility, bodily relaxation, and mental concentration. Its true object, however, is to awaken the dormant energy (shakti) of Shiva that animates the subtle body but is concealed behind the gross human frame.
Bible: I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139:14 NIV
Yoga: The rising energy, (Kundalini serpent coiled at the base of the spine) supposedly travels up to the third eye to create this blissful and peaceful state which is indistinguishable from enlightenment and even immortality.
Bible: Neither is there salvation in any other (than Jesus): for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Acts 4:12 KJV
Yoga: Shiva , (the auspicious one) is one of the principal deities of Hinduism. He is the Supreme Being within Shaivism, one of the major traditions within contemporary Hinduism.
Bible: Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: Deuteronomy 6:4 KJV
We are not even to speak the names of other gods, which are not gods but evil spirits. Speaking their names gives them the power that they crave.
Had enough? The information I am presenting in this article is in no way comprehensive regarding the tenants of Yoga. I encourage you to investigate it for yourself. Yoga is all about Hindu gods and how to attain perfection through the exercises and blanking of the mind. I believe this makes an opening that demon spirits need to gain access to a physical body. I also think it is a gateway into other occultic practices.
As one Christian author wrote, “Saying that we can Christianize yoga is, in a sense, saying that we can Christianize Hinduism.
My boss, a Christian, says, “the people want Yoga”. My thought is “the people wanted a golden calf”!
The only thing I will do with Yoga will be as a Yoga Alternative Class which seriously will be only for health and exercise. I will not hurt people spiritually, but I will point them to life, JESUS!
I cannot give homage or even recognition to these Hindu gods, nor will I dishonor my Lord by speaking their names. Instead I will give Jesus all praise and honor! He is the One who saved my life from destruction.
