I have so much to do,
in this life of mine.
What about you?
Boredom is wearing
with nothing to do,
there's much to be done
all the day through.
Bored people are sick
are weary of life,
they fidget about nothing,
and get into strife.
I've got poems to write
and housework to do,
even if someone else
is doing it too.
My garden is waiting
to give it a drink,
gardening is much more
interesting than you think.
Bored children get into mischief,
idle hands find things to do,
they need to be provided
with good occupations too.
Boredom leads to ennui
and in languishing illness,
with nothing to do,
they sit in stillness.
We bore a hole
to put in a nail
or bore deep down
to bring up oil.
Another bore well known
is to bring up water,
from the artesian basin.

A tiresome, uncongenial
person is a bore.
So is a flood-tide
in a narrow gorge.
Borers are insects
which burrow in trees,
also, a strange fish which
on other fish feeds.
I am feeling bored,
I think I will stay in bed.
But with the good Lord's help,
to my tasks, I have sped.
