People with plenty of money to waste engage in these games in world renowned places like Monte Carlo, Reno Nevada, and in casinos in Australian cities. Closer to home money is lost in things like poker machines, lotto, horse race gambling and football, card games and bingo. People become addicted and lose their money and the families their food and houses. Charities have to help these people with necessities, and counsellors try to get them off this addiction.
Another gamble is to take a risk doing something like abseiling, base jumping, sky or sea diving.
I once saw a young person running in front of an approaching train while his mate videoed the feat.
Climbers who climb Mount Everest take a gamble that they will not die of frost bite, lack of oxygen, avalanches or even the cold. The extreme gamble is a group who are planning a one way trip to Mars. Are they crazy or what?
People who take the gospel to other cultures take a gamble on losing their lives from primitive tribes people. Jim Elliot, who with four others lost their lives to Auca Indian arrows in Amazon jungles said;
"He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep, to gain that which he cannot lose."
Later these men's wives took the gospel to these wild people, who consequently became missionaries to other tribes, and even to an international missionary conference in Europe.

God has said he will provide all our needs and we are to trust him and not try to get money or possessions by unjust means.
"In all things God works together for good to those who love him, who have been called according
to his purpose." Romans 8.28,
