“At last I am here,” I said looking with great admiration at the white marble mausoleum, which was known as one of the seven wonders of the old world. It is the Taj Mahal, the tomb that the Mughul Emperor Sha Jahan built in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. This beautiful landmark is built on the southern bank of the river Yamuna in Agra, India. It took twenty two years and twenty thousand people to build this beautiful monument of love. As people walked around they talked of the love that one human being had for another and the outcome of it.
I thought of the heavenly Father who is building mansions in heaven for His faithful children because of his love for them. Jesus said, “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am there ye may be also. John 14:2-3 [KJV]. Having fulfilled a long time wish, I happily travelled to my next destination.
“Wow look at those fountains they look so beautiful. I am so glad that I have this chance to visit the Brindavan gardens in, Mysore,” I said out loud with excitement.
“You should come back in the night and visit; only then, will you see the full beauty with all the multi colored lights on them,” a voice behind me said. I came back that evening and what an awesome sight met my eyes! Those dancing fountains’ changing their colors ever so often was a sight to behold and gladdened every heart. When dark thoughts come to mind we should put them away and be joyful like a dancing fountain, I said to myself.
We then moved to another special tree which was known to few people. It had a huge knot in the middle of its trunk. Someone had put a knot on it when it was a small plant and it grew with that knot into a big tree. A group of school kids were looking at it with amazement. Their teacher was using a teachable moment telling them, “That is how habits are; if the knot was removed when the tree was young it would have grown up straight like the others. The only way to remove it now is with a saw which will destroy it. So are we and our habits. Develop good ones and you will do well. Develop bad ones and it will be hard to remove them when you get older.”
That night when I returned to my hotel I was fully satisfied with my visit to different places especially the fountains made a great impression on me. As I went to bed that night, my last thoughts were of the beautiful fountains. I was thinking if mortal man’s handiwork is so beautiful, how the work of the God of the universe be.
Now, I stood near another huge tree and looked at it with amazement. This huge tree full of bright golden fruits and shiny green leaves was so tall that I could not see the top of it. Being a student of botany, I tried to figure out what kind of tree this was, but I failed to do so. When I brought my gaze from the top to the bottom of its trunk, it was more wonderful; nothing compared to anything that I had ever seen before. The tree was in the middle of a great river and its trunk was on both the sides. Something clicked in my mind and I repeated Revelations 22: 1 and 2 “And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and the lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.” [KJV]
I woke up with a smile on my face and thanked God for this wonderful dream that made me think more of my life and follow Him always. I want to live in those mansions, eat the fruit of life and live with Him forever, how about you?
