The word ‘WAIT’ is something that many may find it hard to accept. But life is not like that – you have to wait for the bus to come, wait in the doctor’s office, and wait in the line to get into an interview, then wait for the results to come and so on. Waiting requires a lot of patience and to wait like that we need to place our trust in God.
Lisa left her two small children with her sickly husband and came to this country to support her family. The first job was a house keeper and a baby-sitter. She had to work six days a week, and had one day off but had to cook all the food for the day she was off. She was paid only hundred dollars a month for all this work! They took her passport and kept it with them saying it was for safety sake. She made some friends while taking the baby for a walk and they told her that she was not treated properly. They found her a better place and told her to make sure that she had her passport with her.
She was very scared and did not know what to do. Her friends told her that they were all praying and she begged God to rescue her from that place. One evening the baby’s father came home early and told her that he was going to take the child to the doctor. His wife would meet him in the doctor’s office so dinner should be ready when they came home. He told her that they were going for a movie so she should have all the work finished so that she could take care of the baby in the night also. She agreed to everything without a word and was about to start her work. The moment the father left the house the phone rang and it was one of her friends. Listening to Lisa she told her, “This is your chance, quick get your clothes and your passport. I will be there within fifteen minutes in a blue car.
I will call our group and ask them to pray for you. Just trust in God.”
Lisa was shivering from head to toe and she said aloud, “God tell
me what to do.” As soon as she uttered this simple prayer she was impressed to go to the master-bedroom. When she went there trembling there was a voice that was telling her to pull the brown suitcase that was under the bed. She did that and found that the zip was torn in one place, she put her hand right there and felt something hard. When she pulled it out and looked at it she could not believe her eyes, it was her passport! She came downstairs and looked out of the window and saw the blue car parking. She picked her bag and waved her passport; the driver of the car got down and hugged her. She was her new employer!
Lisa was in the seventh heaven in the new employer’s house. She was a kind lady who paid her very well and gave her all the perks that she needed to get. She treated her as a family member. Life was fine for five years and then her employer’s job moved out of the country. Lisa had to find another job. Her old friends with whom she was always in touch, got busy with the job hunt again.
As Lisa could not speak good English, so all that she could do was baby-sitting and house work. She was an excellent cook, very honest and clean. The good employer gave her wonderful testimonials, and before long another baby-sitting and house work job was found for Lisa. But work was very hard and a lot of cooking and cleaning had to be done. She had to stay in an unhealthy basement. The money was not that great, but Lisa waited patiently for fifteen years and trusted in God to do the best for her. She was able to bring her son and daughter- in-law that were nurses to USA, and they got good jobs.
Last week I visited the beautiful new house that her children built for their mother. Lisa trusted God and waited patiently and the good Lord rewarded her abundantly in this world itself. God would never let down His children who trust and obey Him.
