One should never make a New Year’s resolution to never eat too much .
We are making that resolution on a stuffed tummy, and feel as if this will be an easy endeavor, besides the fact that we are so overstuffed, feel miserable, and feel that we could never face another box of chocolates again anyway.
The first day, my tummy was so full that I wondered why I’ve never done this before; after all, I am more than a bit overweight.
The second day, I am already hungry, but; I think I can handle this. It actually feels better than the feeling of being overstuffed.
The third day, I decided to walk all of the aisles in Wal Mart to hurry this process along, when I spied a box of chocolates, which seemed to reach out to me, and they were even on sale! Yet, I managed to walk right by.
On day four, I rationalized—“A person cannot just go without sweets completely. If I limit them to one per day, it will be my treat, and this nagging desire will be quenched, and it will be much easier not to overload.”
Day 5, I walked again, the chocolates were still on sale; and I bought the chocolates, ate one, and felt very proud of myself for being so self-disciplined. Now I would be able to handle this.
On day 6, I was hungrier than I had ever been; or so I thought, and not only ate 6 chocolates; but a very large meal besides. Sure felt good not to be hungry.
Day 7, I decided it would be easier to eat a small amount at the restaurant. I looked around at all of the skinny people eating huge plates of the most delicious food, and they were so thin and trim anyway. It hit me very strongly that “life is just not fair,” and I ordered barbeque ribs! I weighed when I got home and was 3 lbs. heavier.
Should I ever decide to make a New Year’s Resolution, (which is very doubtful,) I will not make the resolution on New Years.
The next time I try, will be under Doctor’s orders, or else on April Fool’s Day.
