I hang my head in shame.
This is from this horse’s mouth
there’s no one else to blame.
I fell away from God
and ended in the street.
I could not make things right
wore chains upon my feet.
The people did not help;
they only turned away.
They act like I’m not there
not hearing what I say.
Winter was coming on
a thing I have to face.
With rags upon my feet
my life’s a bitter taste.
As hunger closes in
I lay here near the end.
I cannot find my way
I’m lost without a friend.
A voice from the darkness
was calling out my name.
It simply said, “Reach out,
and things won’t be the same.”
A warmth filled my body
I felt so safe at last.
The evilness I lived
faded into the past.
Knowing that the Father
was there to take me home
He cleansed me of my sins
I’m finally not alone.
I know that the angels
surround me with great care.
No longer on the street.
without that load to bear.
So from this horse’s mouth
know these words are true.
Reach out for that hand
and God will rescue you.

Beautifully said and written.
God bless~
Getting the rhyming words may take the most time. Good work.
What you write is true whenever anyone believes that Jesus was crucified but rose again and was made both Lord and Christ and repents and is baptized for the forgiveness of their sin, they are a child of God because they were given his gift of the Holy Spirit.
Your poem forms are good and seem to come easy for you. Keep writing in this form, especially if you like it best.
Very well written! Blessings!
