In psychology, the Big Five personality traits are five broad domains or dimensions of personality that are used to describe human personality. The Big Five factors are openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism.
In order to maintain polite society, only two factors per subject were permitted. One could be openness/extraversion, conscientiousness/agreeableness, neuroticism/extraversion – quite controllable at only two presets. Avoiding confusion, two personality traits allowed for sufficient diversity to reduce robotic expression and open rebellion.
Personality Formation Preset . . .
Barb and I are rogues – allowed birth instead of abortion. I am always eager to begin an impossible challenge, then, faintly, weakly my energy meanders from GO to a very strongly, not preset – stop. I need a mother. I desperately seek for acceptance and believable, trustworthy security.
In preset programming, mothers wear ruffled aprons, serve Norman Rockwell perfect dinners on red-checked vinyl tablecloths, with cheerful upbeat hubby and freshly scrubbed faces on kids eager to belong to the clean plate club.
Our irreplaceable mom had soft wavy black hair and looked like a queen in her housedresses. She had bearing, intelligence and beauty. She was born before the programming was initiated, a quiet freethinking rebel.
But her two daughters were sadly incomplete, incompetent, and as deemed by worldly standards – throwaways. Thank you, sweet Mother for not allowing a cold steel instrument to invade you and deprive us of your love.
Screech to a full stop. Take a deep breath. Exhale slowly, luxuriously. Deemed disloyal to the humanistic, ungodly requirements of a diseased and dying worldly system, Mom was not permitted to mother her two rogue infants. We hid from anyone not resembling a loving mother with warm, safe embracing arms.
Barb is always herself. Unchanged and, at times, blissfully unhinged, Barb and I would seek employment from all and sundry apron-clad sweet-faced mama figures with wavy black hair.
We were learning slowly what separated us from other folk, realizing the horror of Personality Formation Preset. Imagine combining just two of Five personalities programmed into mother/child, forever struggling through unfulfilled lives on this uncaring, blind and godless planet.
Barb? She has so many varied intriguing personalities – she cannot be lumped with just two preset selected random traits. And why should she be? God gave her Him. Enough said.
I faltered, fell, wept and sorely grieved my limitations. My personality was mayhem, lodged into my brain by God’s Grace, but disconnected, fragmented, useless.
We exist as strangers in a strange land . . .
Inhale, exhale – rethink thoughts somewhat governable.
Slowly maturing emotionally and mentally – are there others like us? We cannot really be alone – most certainly there are . . .
And here they materialize, as if just thinking of them drew them to us. What a dramatic group!
They are like us yet so different, so incredibly advanced. They appear happy and so fulfilled. They speak of hope, conquest, faith and love. They offer hope from confusion and pain.
They encircle Barb and me and speak of strange, wonderful things – repentance from sinning against a Holy God, life change, growth, freedom and truth because God’s own Son came to release us from the imprisoning shackles of this world.
It slowly bubbles up from the pit of my stomach, seeking release in sheer joy. Shouting that we do not need to be perfected, programmed – that the wretched evil Man who controls our imperfect planet has actually been overcome, my joy leaps to the surface – “We’re released from the power that enslaves us to sin!”
Take a deep breath. Inhale deeply the sweet fragrance of salvation. Exhale in full glory to God, shout, sing praises and psalms!
It’s good to breathe free air. Inhale God’s holy Word, suck it in until every cell of our Body in Him is gloriously filled with Him. We breathe Him in. Again, slowly, luxuriously we exhale, letting our breath, fears and slave mentality uncoil to refreshing freedom.
As believers in God, we trust Him, depend on Him – become infants in our knowledge of Him and clutch Him fiercely, loving Him because He first loved us. We are bottle fed on the milk of His Word. We grow. We appropriate His Grace for strengthening us to maturity.
Happily, we link arms and hearts with our new friends Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Job, Jacob, Nehemiah – so many wonderful friends who have traveled our journey before us.
Inhale God’s Word, let it circulate through your systems, exhale nothing but His Truths.
