screams from every wall.
The moans of loneliness
are echoes in the hall.
I cannot still my mind
of it's constant drone.
Focus is scattered all about
leaves me all alone.
A cold and stirring draft
breaks the warmth of day.
Captures my frozen heart
and whisks it far away.
The words of the World
fade into the night.
I think of the pain I caused
and how to make it right.
The snow's gently falling
coats the valley floor.
Reminds me that the things I do
soon will be no more.
As the moon dances
on this coat of white.
My prayers to You carry me
softly into the night.
Now I lay me down
to drift into a fitful sleep.
My head lies on the pillow
stained with the tears I weep.
I can hardly wait
for the sun to shine again.
Brightening the path I walk
on the life I try to mend.
Tomorrow will come quickly
too fast for me to rest.
So I can stagger through a day
where I will try my best.
The comfort that is You
is capturing my mind.
Even in this darkest of night
You are so very kind.
Suddenly there's a knocking.
Upon my jailhouse door.
You come to free me of my pain
cause that's what friends are for.
You gather me in you arms
and You crush my pain.
take me from this fantasy
of a coffee colored rain.
So You whisper softly
it will be alright.
Hold me in Your tenderness
help me make it through the night.
You make me so aware
of how much You love me.
My mind can finally rest
'cause You help me to be.
Where I thought there was no one
You show me You're not far.
You light my darkest night
I seek and there You are.
