I love this time of year, with all the spectacular array of color, in every direction.
The huge trees along the country roads are beginning to remind me of orange marmalade and strawberry ice cream.
The grape vineyards curving around the hill sides appear to be turning the purple and rust colors that we would never dream of using together when we are decorating or choosing clothing to wear, but in nature they are beautiful.
Even bushes planted along the drives of many homes are changelings. What once was green is now becoming what seems like a million variations of red and orange. I’ve even noticed some trees that appear to be almost a pink color.
With all this beauty of nature surrounding me it is hard to enjoy it because of the next season about to attack us-Christmas!
Yeah, yeah, I know-Bah humbug. No, not really. I love Christmas, the way Christmas should be but not the way it is now. Everyone scurrying around trying to figure out what to buy who without leaving someone out. Oh yeah, tis definitely the season for hurt feelings.
But I can’t think about that today, I will think about it tomorrow. Today I have to start making a list.
1. Make a list of everyone on my Christmas card list.
2. Make a list of everyone’s address on my Christmas card list.
3. Make a list of everyone I have to buy or make a gift for.
4. Tear up all these lists-I am going to call up the grandkids and invite them over to bake Christmas cookies. Then we will sit down and eat them with a nice cold glass of milk.
Christmas should be a time for being with those we love and forgetting the stressful things we think we should do. Lets get back to family sitting around the living room and someone reading the scriptures about the Baby Jesus birth and then lets all go out Christmas Caroling around the neighborhood!
Merry Christmas to all and to all a spectacular New Year!
