When I was bound by sin.
He knew my heart was breaking up
I could not enter in
My living space was called ‘Remorse’
Where else could I reside?
But I could see a brighter land
Across the great divide.
There was a word that came to me
When I was down and out.
It promised me the victory
And told my heart ‘Rejoice”.
I needed not to wring my hands,
And sob a victim’s tears.
Because His word had set me free
From all my secret fears.
There was a bridge that I could cross
A way to gain control.
A way that I could cross over-
‘Salvation’ for my soul.
To cross from fleshly, hopeless ways
Carnality and strife,
Without a sensing of God’s love
Unto eternal life.
A man, a bridge, a word, a link
Was what God offered me.
Because I could not overcome
The challenges that be.
My sin, my flesh, my many needs
Were ruling o’er my heart.
I could not reach across the gap
Or sing “How Great Thou Art”.
One name is fit, connect the dots
And see He is the Word.
He is the Bridge Of Life to me
His name is often heard.
I speak of one who spans all time,
Who reaches out to us-
Upon whom we walk and connect
One And Only, Jesus.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God…
The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us…”
John 1:1, 14 NIV Bible
