I am amazed at how quickly my birthday rolls around each year. It seems like only yesterday I was a high school student who barely weighed 100 lbs, and now I am a 37 years old who often wonders when I made the transition from being addressed as Miss to that of Ma’am. At times I wish that I still had the carefree life of child, but I know that there is nothing that I can do to turn back the hands of time.

Each birthday gives me another opportunity to thank God for His protective hand that has allowed me the opportunity to celebrate another year. It is comforting to know that the Lord planned every detail of my life before I even drew my first breath. Although the pathway He chose for me has maneuvered around many roadblocks, disappointments and closed doors, I am certain that where I am today is exactly where He wants me to be.

My life is like a beautiful tapestry that is masterfully woven out of the fibers provided by each relationship and experience that I have ever encountered. No situation has ever been in vain, but everything has meshed together to create a work of art that glorifies God. I believe that each one of our lives is joined together like the squares of a patchwork quilt that is comprised of many colors, patterns and textures. I imagine God looking down on all His creation and seeing a blanket of love that covers the surface of the earth.

I know that I am blessed to have reached the age that I am today and I thank God for my life. There are many who did not live to blow out their first birthday candle, and who never experienced taking the first steps as a toddler, playing as a preschooler, studying as a teenager, getting married as a young lady or even cringing at being called ma’am. I thank God for being the Master Crafter who is constantly untangling the strands of each situation that I encounter and fashioning them into a life that is fearfully and wonderfully made.
