Topic: The Church (12/06/07)
When I look at the news especially CNN
I see backbiting, lying, cheating and whatever
I wonder when will “WE” get it together
Not, the world folks, but the church’s sin

If we are in Christ then we are the seed
If we are the body and Christ is head
How can the body not be led?
Our example should show the need

For a glorious church without spot
Our example should be live right today
There is no time for “someday” don’t delay
He’s coming soon please don’t get caught

Thinking there’s time to cleanse your garment
Just remember one who preached “rain”
Only his family was able to remain
Time to be prepared and not be disarmed

Be ready, be diligent, be gracious and love
Knowing that the world is watching us
The body, the church and the one who we trust
He’s returning and it won’t be like a dove

We certainly do see airing of dirty laundry more often than we would like. And you are right: we can only clean up our act, one act at a time.

You've presented some interesting thoughts here. And, you're right -- when Christ returns, it won't be like a dove. He's coming as a Conquering King and there will be no doubt who He is! Christmas blessings! :)

I like the A-B-B-A rhyme scheme--it's one not often used.

Maybe some minor adjustments to the meter, for flow?

Poetry in a week requires genuine inspiration and yours works, but seems a little forced. Almost missed the rhyme scheme because the meter tripped me up a little. You have the right idea, though, and a good last line. Keep at it.
