Though the source of our desire is of utmost importance to the fulfillment of a dream, so also is the intensity of that desire. A variety of terms have been used to describe this intensity, such as having a "burning" desire. The degree of this intensity will often determine how stout the heart in the pursuit of its goal, in the face of setbacks, defeats, and failures. Scripture itself uses a very colorful term for this "burning desire." That word is "zeal." The same word is used in reference to the fiery testimony of the saints, as well as in the Lord's quest for the purity and sanctity of the Father's house (John 2:17 KJV), and in doing His will.
Whether it be zeal or desire, some will be the sparks that ignite into flames a new and glorious dream. Others will merely blow away as a wisp, and vanish into the nothingness from whence they came. Our dreams and our desires-what kind shall they be? Consider their source, and their intensity; but ultimately it is up to you and me.
