Let’s welcome the lucky couples who’ve made it this far! Here are Bill and Betty Wright, from Upstanding Way, Montana. How do you feel about making it this far, Bill?
“Well, Misty, we’re proud of course – but we knew we were called to be missionaries. So it’s only right that we’d be here.”
“And you, Betty? Do you feel the same way?”
”Certainly, Misty. We have to set those villagers straight. I just know they’ll see the light when we get there.”
“Well, you’ve definitely earned the right to be here. You scored the highest on the Bible knowledge test and you have many letters of recommendation. Do you feel confident that you’ll win, Bill?”
”Of course, Misty. It was meant to be. We’re the right ones for this job.”
Well, we’ll soon see. Let’s welcome our second couple: Adam and Eve Tripp, from Wandering Shoes, Alaska. Are you excited to be here, Adam?
”Sure, Misty! This place sure is wonderful to visit, but we can’t wait to get on that plane to our destination. Right, Eve?”
“Oh, yes, Adam. Think of the adventure! We’re going to have such wonderful times!”
Your travel experience has certainly proved useful on the show so far. You‘ve won the heat and endurance challenges and you can speak seven languages. It will be interesting to see how you do on this final challenge.
“Oh, Adam, another adventure!”
“I know, Eve. I can’t wait either!”
Our final couple has become known for their frequent questions. Manny and Sissy Fisher from Followers Ford, Florida haven’t won many challenges, but they won the audience vote each week. Manny, how do you explain your amazing progress on the show?
“We’re just following the Lord’s leading, Misty. If He wants us to go, we’ll go. If He asks us to stay, we’ll stay.”
What about those questions you’ve asked the other contestants?
“Let me ask you a question, Misty. If you were to die tonight, would you go to heaven?”
Yes, that’s the sort of question that I mean. You guys and those questions.....
“Well, what’s the answer?”
Well, I’m sure our audience doesn’t want to hear about me. Well, if you insist ....um.... I don’t know. I’m a good person. Of course I’d go to heaven. Right, audience???
“Listen, Misty – it’s not that simple. It’s not about what you’ve done or who you are. It’s about God’s Son, Jesus Christ, who died to pay for your sins. He’s the only way to heaven. If you don’t accept Him, you don’t have a chance to go to heaven - no matter how good a life you’ve lived.”
Well, look, Manny. That’s a really great philosophy and to each his own. But tonight we’re here to decide which couple will be chosen as a missionary. So.... what’s that? Excuse me just a minute, folks. Umm, yes. I see. Well, folks ... it seems that our Chief Judge says that our Final Challenge is no longer needed. He’s seen enough and we have our winner. The Chief Judge has chosen Manny and Sissy Fisher! Congratulations, folks!
“I’d like to give the glory to God, Misty.
Well – Betty, I know this is a disappointment to you.
“It certainly is, Misty. I can’t imagine how we could have been so mistaken.”
“Oh, Betty, don’t cry. We’re the perfect missionaries. Someday we’ll find the right people to listen to us. Come along, honey.”
This must be a letdown for you as well, Adam and Eve.
“Well, I suppose so, Misty. Though we did hear of a trip to the Holy Land that’s up for grabs on that other network.”
”Oh, yes, Adam! Let’s try for that!”
Well, Manny and Sissy, you’re our winners! Right now, we’ve got a live show here, and we’ve got 20 minutes left to fill. What on earth are we going to talk about?”
“Well, Misty, we can begin by talking some more about that question that I asked you...”
