Topic: Friend (11/02/17)
I am sure that most people have heard the saying "A mans best friend is his dog". The popular Disney movie Old Yeller reinforces that saying. The strong bond and friendship of the boy and his dog Old Yeller is a classic still today. The story takes a tragic twist when the boy, the dogs best friend, had to shoot him for the sake of putting an end to Old Yellars suffering. Anyone who has watched this movie for sure has shed some tears.



The bible declares that there is no greater friend than the one that lays his life down for another(Jn 15:13). Jesus gave up his life for us so that our suffering would be no more. In fact Jesus declares in scripture that he no longer calls us servants but his friends(Jn 1515).



Abraham was the first to be called a friend of God. This distinction was attributed to him because he obeyed God totally, and without comprise. Abraham loved God so much that he himself was willing to obey God even to the point of sacrificing his only son.



It has been said that you can count your true friends with on one hand. True friendship is a rare thing and if your lucky enough to have some real friends, make sure you treasure that special gift.



More than anything Jesus wants to be our friend. He says if you obey me than you are my friends. What a privilege we have to be called the friend of God. We need to think about that truth and work on our friendship with the king of kings and the Lord of Lords. It will be a great day in Heaven when we hear from Jesus himself, welcome friend.

I am glad Jesus reminds us in his word that He will never leave or forsake us.

Note: The plural of man is men; the possessive of man is man's [man's best friend].

Well done and such a good message. I would add to Bonnie's comment that it is worth checking carefully words like 'your' to 'you're' and being sure your grammar is spot on. Keep writing. Blessings.
