Jesus came into the family of May and Joseph in a miraculous way. He knew the importance of having a good Father and Mother. Joseph and Mary fulfilled their calling to be the parents of Jesus in the best way they knew.
Aided from the very beginning by the visits of angels. What is impressive about them, is the obedience to the ministrations that they received. Two ordinary people, but God had looked into their hearts. In exactly the same way as he does look into ours.
We would do well if we looked after our children with the same diligence. After all children are a gift from God. They need to be loved, just as Mary and Joseph loved Jesus.
For Joseph to take a new born child and his wife that had given birth to this child on a long journey into Egypt by camel took a lot of faith. He would have received guidance along the way. That took faith in the God who had provided him with a family.
Mary had pondered about what the angel Gabriel had told her. Now here she was with a husband and a baby who she knew to be special. And now they were being sent away into a land she did not know. With a man who at one time had thought to put her away. She must have wondered about what type of family they were starting.
One who would change the world. Then to watch her first born die on the cross. In Jewish eyes a disgraceful death, yet she knew that what the angel had told her was true.
Now that was some mother and father, who were obedient to what had been told them. Mary must have known that this was not the end of her son. But the mothers agony at the sight before her was so real. She had other children who would be used by God. and Joseph? we do not hear so much about him. But he hung in there. Right to the end, with a hope that there was something more to this.
How right Joseph and Mary were, they had started one big resurrected family.

Red ink: Mary was spelled May in the first paragraph. It would be easier to read if you double-spaced between paragraphs.
