Cassie looked at Sam as she walked back to get it, sorry, she whispered, tears forming in her eyes.
“Gee Whiz; Sam moaned to himself, I didn’t mean to make her cry.” The rest of the day he didn’t say anything to Cassie.
At closing time Wanda was talking to Cassie as Sam came up to the table. “Hey Sam, did you know that Cassie use to be a cook before the restaurant closed down last year?” Ladue’s in Whitecliff, remember it?”
“Sure I do, the owner passed away didn’t he?” Sam added as he looked at Cassie.
Cassie answered his question; “Yes, he was 83 and had been sick, but just kept going till he could not. He left the restaurant to his nephew, who promptly sold the building. I had hoped to buy the place someday, but I never got the chance.”
“So Cassie, you can cook?” Sam questioned her as he shut the rest of the lights off in the kitchen area.
“I spent a lot of time in the kitchen. I even went to cooking school. I can hold my own. I am comfortable there.” She said.
Sam’s eyes twinkled as his thoughts formed. “Say Cassie, I have a proposition for you. How about cooking here? You enjoy it, and I need a break, working out front is not you. It would give me more time to spend on my studies, I enjoy owning this restaurant, but I can’t seem to break away from here when I need to. You could help me out; I could give more time to my sermons, my congregation would receive more of my time.”
Surprised, she turned back around from taking the remains of the coffee grounds from the coffee pot; she dumped them into the trash, as she asked Sam, “Are you a Pastor then?”
“I have been for five years now.” He replied as he hung up the last utensil from the drainer.
Wanda looked at both of these young people. Just maybe something good could come from this arrangement, yes just maybe.

Cassie took over the cooking and within three weeks the business had increased. Her new items she offered on the revised menu were a big hit. Her new desert, called ‘Heavenly Spice’ was the talk of the town, but the ingredients remained a secret. Easy to make Cassie said, but no one came close to copying it. It had soon become a big crowd pleaser.
As the weeks flew by, Wanda who was made manager had to hire two more waitresses.
Cassie had started going to Sam’s church. It did not take her long to give thanks to the Lord; her heart had been His for many years.
Sam’s feeling for Cassie grew over these last few weeks, he only hope hers did also. Closing the store together tonight, Sam took a deep breath and told Cassie he wanted more in their relationship.
Cassie’s hands was full of a bowl of her famous desert, it just about fell from her hands. “Oh Sam, that’s what I want too." She sat the bowl down and reached up to kiss him on the cheek, "I feel this is so right, I’m home here, and Sam --- I love you."
Sam’s heart was beating faster, his eyes on her, “Oh Cass, I love you too. No dating is needed I see, so how about a wedding in three months?” He watched as Cassie’s face lit up with delight.
“God sent you here for a reason, you get your restaurant and I can be a full time Pastor, but seriously, Cassie, the greatest part is we love the Lord and each other.” Sam spoke barely above a whisper.
“Sam, if I told you that this was what I prayed for, would you believe me?” Cassie asked him. “I wanted God to send me someone like you in my life. So I know too, that this was not by accident but God’s will for us,” she smiled, “thank you for putting me in the kitchen, it paved our way to one another.”

You have quite a few little technical errors. There is a missing quotation mark after Gee whiz (and whiz should be lowercase)and when she says sorry there aren't any quotation marks. Having a good proofreader or challenge buddy would help a lot. (If you'd like me to explain more of what I noticed feel free to PM and I'll give you more details.)
The ending, though slightly predictable was nice. Most people enjoy a happy ending. I also like your message about how God can answer prayers in ways we might never expect. You also did a nice job of covering the topic. Good job.
