Then, I began to consider the differences in the ways that each of us values our time, and some lessons that I have learned.
In Ecclesiastes chapter 3:1-8, the scriptures tell us that there is a time for everything under the sun. It is up to us to make use of each of the “times” that are listed, and to put our lives in order. Time is a testing period of which we can put to great profit or to great loss.
Some of the things in our lives seem to be nothing but time consuming, and we struggle with making right evaluations. For instance, it takes time to study God’s Word, and to commune with Him. Yes, perhaps this seems to take too much time, but one learns through life, this is some of the most valuable time that we can spend. We find it so hard to learn this lesson, but I have found that when I allow other things to take the place of starting my day with God, I run into many “time-stealers,” throughout the day, that take away far more time than my precious time with God. I find my own attitudes dwindling, and many a day seems like a disaster, simply from not “redeeming the time.” Ephesians 5:16
Yes, our priorities make a great difference in the outcome of our lives.
Training our children seems like an unending job; but the rewards are great, and the disaster of lack of training in their lives can be devastating.
I have also learned that we can try to cram too much into each day. We need to have priorities, and often, even both plan A, and plan B.
We need to consider the body that God has given us as the temple of God, and allow time for physical renewal. If we do not, we will pay the price. There will be times when we will lose all control of our time by the breakdown of our bodies.
I firmly believe that the success which mankind is prone to strive for is greatly related to the dedicated use of our time, under the guidance of God. We need to clear our lives of useless things that steal our time.
Our precious Lord and Savior,
Our time is in Your hand.
We often struggle in vain;
Not seeking what You have planned.
Lord help me seek Your Divine plan
At the beginning of my day.
May I live my life in Your order;
And keep me strong, lest I should stray.
Hold me gently in Your arms.
Fill my heart with Your deep love.
My life, please help me pattern
After Your Son who reigns above.
Then, when this life is over,
And I come to dwell with You;
May I hear the words, “Well Done,”
As heaven comes in to view.
