Lord, I find myself in so much pain. The days are getting harder, not easier. I am not sure what your plan is for me. I am trying to persevere, but it is getting harder all the time. Lord, please show me what you want for my life. Thank you, I love you.
Gwyn tried to muster up the willpower to read her Neuroanatomy textbook. After a few paragraphs she realized she didn’t remember any of what she had read. It all seemed so useless. College and majoring in Veterinary Science was her parents’ dream not hers.
She put down her textbook and picked up the novel she checked out from the library. Gwyn had always had a fascination with history, especially Welsh history. After all, Gwyn’s mother’s side of the family was Welsh. She remembered her grandmother telling stories about her childhood in Wales. She missed her grandmother….
Gwyn put down her book and closed her eyes, imagining she was in Wales.

“Gwyndolyn. Gwyndolyn! Ble ydych chi (Where are you)?”
Gwyn awoke, frustrated at whoever was disturbing her nap!
Was that woman speaking Welsh? How did she understand her?
Gwyn looked through her blurry eyes, and realized she wasn’t in her dorm room. She was in an exquisite room decorated in late 19th century fashion.
The door opened slowly and the noisy woman peeked around.
“Oh there you are Gwyndolyn, I’ve been looking everywhere for you!” She was still speaking Welsh. Her voice sounded familiar.
“I…I…I’m sorry, I must have fallen asleep.” Gwyn said and she realized that she too was speaking Welsh.
What on Earth is going on here?
“It’s alright, but do get up. We need to start out for the church soon.”
“The church?” Gwyn asked.
“Yes, the church, Gwyndolyn. We’re going to the special meeting, remember? Joseph Jenkins, the revivalist is coming? Honestly, Gwyndolyn, sometimes I wonder where your head is.”
Wales? I’m in Wales?
As the young woman drew near, Gwyn recognized a familiarity in her face. It was almost as if...Gran…
“Cecilia?” Gwyn said uncertainly.
“Yes Gwyndolyn?”
It was Gran, but as a young woman!
Gwyn shot out of bed and took hold of her young grandmother and wrapped her arms around her. Oh, how she had missed her.
“I love you so much!” said Gwyn.
“I love you, too. We’re kindred spirits.” Cecilia answered. “Now, let’s go before we’re late.”
Gwyn couldn’t believe what was happening. It was all so strange, yet very comfortable. She was with family and she couldn’t think of anything she would rather do than to join her grandmother at the revival.

Gwyn and Cecilia returned home from the revival around midnight. What an amazing turnout, and so many had professed their faith in Jesus Christ. Yes, God was at work in Wales!
“Gra…uh… Cecilia, I want to be a part of the Welsh revival.”
“Oh, I am not surprised Gwyndolyn. I can see the Lord’s calling in your life already.” Cecilia affirmed her.
Gwyn went to her room and rested herself on the bed. What an amazing day…

Gwyn awoke to sunlight streaming in her window. She realized she was back in her dorm room. Sadness quickly overcame her. It was all just a dream. Oh, how she wanted to go back to Wales and be with Gran.
As Gwyn thought about her dream and her grandmother, she remembered her grandmother telling her stories about when she lived in Wales as a young woman. The people, the culture, the Welsh language that was slowly being lost to the English language. She even remembered something about a great revival.
Gwyn picked up her cell phone and dialed home.
“Hi Gwyn,” her mother cheerfully answered.
“Hi Mom, what was the name of Gran’s best friend when she lived in Wales?”
“It was Gywndolyn. She became a missionary in Wales. Your grandmother was so excited when we named you Gwyn. She said you always reminded her of her friend. Why?”
Gwyn smiled.
“I just had the most amazing experience, Mom. God has shown me what He wants to do with my life. I’ll call you back.”
Gwyn hung up and headed for the door. It was time to go see the college registrar. Wales needed another revival.
