Grass green eyes puffy with sleep,
relieved by gulps of black sludge.
Black lap top whirrs to life
disturbing a ball of orange fur.
Think. Water bill due tomorrow.
Is the orange flag waving for pick up?
Think. Princess pink tutu hangs
next to dirt stained baseball tee. Busy night.
Bright blank screen draws me in.
Type my name and the date.
Attempt a title. Letters appear, disappear,

Beep. Thoughts interrupted.
Transfer soggy garments.

that leaks wisdom from every word,
as if Solomon himself were the author.
Ring. Special delivery. Hubby’s new motorcycle
helmet, licked by blue and yellow flames.
Ring. School nurse says it’s urgent-
monkey bars break arms.
Slap lap top shut. Slip on flip flops,
collect keys, rush down the block
to the red brick elementary.
