I believe it’s at times when the Lord speaks to us about His plans for our lives, we start to question if it’s really God. (We think) we have disappointed him too often, and He’s done enough for us already. Refer to the story of the widow woman and her son in 2 Kings 4. The Lord didn’t run out of oil, the widow woman ran out of empty vessels. It was only then that the oil stayed. And consider Luke 11:13. If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
On a personal note, I have said, “but God, remember how I would lie to save face, due to my own insecurities and fear of looking bad in the eyes of others?” God would gently say, “No, my daughter, I don’t remember that. I even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins. (Isaiah 43:25). Your sins and iniquities will I remember no more. (Hebrews 10:17) Now let’s move on.”
1 John 1:9: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Think about the opportunity you messed up, and how God, by His grace, brought that opportunity around again, laced with even more benefits than before. Hmmmm. I know. I can hear it in the spirit. “But God, I…..I really screwed this up the last time. I asked your forgiveness, but I didn’t think I’d get another shot at this.” Just relax and hear God say, “I would never give up on you my son/daughter. You are the apple of my eye, and I have an eternal plan for you. Now let’s move on.”
It’s shocking to see where God brings people [from], in order to bring them [to] their divine destiny. He pursues, then waits patiently. Pursues and waits…... My God will stop at nothing for us. He is relentless because of His faithfulness and His love for us. Aren’t you glad about it? I sure am.
I can imagine how the enemy rips into the ex-convict, ex-prostitute, ex-drug dealer, etc. whom society deems as worthless and vile. Consider Rahab. I love her story. Truth be told, we all, as blood bought believers in the Lord Jesus Christ are ex-something. But God says, “I don’t remember that. When I see you, it just doesn’t come to mind. All I see is a reflection of Myself, through the shed blood of My Son, with whom I am well pleased. Now let’s move on.”

The last paragraphs, too, have a strong and affirming message to all of us-no matter what our pasts contain. Very good and very insightful!
