Morning has come and the birds are chirping
The kids are up and the baby needs burping
Toast’s made, dripping with butter
The first cup of coffee dispels all the mutters.
Faces are washed with teeth all gleaming
Order is kept, the little one’s beaming
Lunches into bags are packed
Into the car each child is stacked.
One off at school and one at the ‘Kinder’
On to the shopping, let nothing hinder
The little one has had enough
Back home before the going gets rough.
A feed and a cuddle and down for a nap
A sink full of dishes, turn on that tap
Make a bed, clean the floor
What’s that, someone’s knocking at the door.
So much to do, there’s no time for a chat
My friend is standing there on the mat
Her shoulders are drooping
Join me for a coffee, I’ll do no snooping
Her spirits are lifted, she goes on her way
Back to the jobs without any delay
A cry from the cot
Reminds me, this is my lot.
A feed and a cuddle and even a little play
Get organized for dinner and we’re on our way
One from kinder the other from school
Listening to their stories, they really are cool.
A game outside, till Dad arrives home
Our meal together, no time for the phone
Story and prayers said
All little one’s ready and off to their bed.
Time to sit together and time to relax
This is the life I love to the max.
An evening spent together
If every day was like this I would do it forever.
